Trent Update 9/19/2025
GREAT NEWS! Trent came back from his foster home for a check-up and has officially been CLEARED for adoption by our medical team! This handsome boy has finally left his painful past behind, and now he’s AVAILABLE for adoption at our Sam Swope Pet TLC.

Trent Undergoes Surgery 9/4/2025
Trent arrived at KHS two weeks ago in horrific shape, with infection levels so high that we’ve been unable to safely sedate him for surgery. His teeth are rotten and cause him pain with every breath and bite. To make matters worse, we also found a large testicular tumor on Trent that, if left untreated, could take his life. Thankfully, today Trent’s infection levels are low enough that he finally got to feel relief for the first time in ages.
We performed a routine neuter surgery and removed the testicular tumor, before beginning his dental extraction. What we found in Trent’s mouth was shocking to say the least. Every tooth on his upper row was completely rotten, with nerves exposed and infection seeping out of his gums. The severity of this case left us only one choice – to remove all of Trent’s remaining teeth. While this will require him to eat soft foods for the rest of his life, it is the only way to ensure he lives painlessly and makes a full recovery.
For now, Trent is resting under our veterinary team’s watchful eyes. We’ll be closely monitoring his progress and providing preventative antibiotics to fight off any potential for new problems to arise as he heals. Trent Needs Your Support 8/21/2025
Trent recently arrived at our Sam Swope Pet Treatment and Lifesaving Center in terrible shape. At 10 years old, his teeth are rotten, causing him constant pain. Even eating is uncomfortable for this poor senior. To make matters worse, Trent has a severe upper respiratory infection causing him to cough, sneeze and pant constantly. Left untreated for much longer, Trent’s long-term quality of life would have been at risk. Thankfully, he came to the right place and we have a plan to help him recover.
Because of the severity of Trent’s infection, he must first undergo treatment to resolve his upper respiratory symptoms. We are providing him with daily rounds of antibiotics to ensure his body heals quickly so that we can proceed with the next step of his recovery plan – a dental surgery to remove his diseased teeth. For now, Trent is peacefully resting and recuperating with our team by his side. We will be there for him every step of the way, and you can too.
