Meet Rowdy! Rowdy is a flashy 4 year old pinto gelding with a solid start on the ground, ready to go to work and finish your way. Rowdy was seized in a neglect case as a 3 year old stallion, along with 6 other horses. He spent a year in holding until his case was settled and as soon as he was transferred to Kentucky Humane Society, Rowdy was gelded and has embraced his new life as a gelding with a delightfully calm demeanor. Now that Rowdy is healed up from his castration, he has gone back to ground work and is a quiet, willing young horse who is now calm when working around mares and ready to go to work.
Rowdy has good ground manners but will continue to need handling and additional ground work. He ties well, has enjoyed his recent baths, loaded and unloaded well, and is learning to yield his shoulders and haunches. He has been worked lightly in the round pen and shows a willingness to learn. Rowdy has occasionally shown a walking gait but also trots out in the round pen and shows a talent for cantering.
Rowdy had a light start under saddle early on but will need a full restart given the time he spent in holding and he would make a great project for a trainer. So far, he shows more whoa than go and seems like he would appreciate a fairly low-energy job like trail riding!
