Iris is still fighting after arriving at KHS a month ago after she was witnessed being dragged behind a moving car on a busy road. Since day one, Iris has shown unbelievable resilience, trust and love for humans despite all she went through. Now that she’s stable and showing more signs of mobility every day, she’s able to enjoy some time in a foster home with an experienced staff member.
Iris’s foster mom reports that her wounds are closing beautifully, with new scabs forming daily. Iris is also comfortable enough to take very short walks, though her paw pads are still healing and require careful observation – especially in this heat. Her wounds remain wrapped and covered in ointment for most of the day, ensuring no further infection can set in. Most importantly, this sweet girl is getting the one-on-one affection she’s craved for so long. She seems to really enjoy living in a safe, comfy home with open access to people she loves!

Iris will visit our Sam Swope Pet Treatment and Lifesaving Center for a check-up next week, and we will update you on her progress then. In the meantime, please continue donating in her honor and sending words of encouragement her way. It’s thanks to supporters like you that we’re able to provide dogs like Iris with the intensive medical care they need to survive. We are so grateful that your donations made it possible for us to rescue Iris and give her the second chance she deserves.
